27 week bump watch

this week I made progress on cleaning out our second bedroom (bag of recycling with junk in the picture as proof!)...and of course my belly grew! here are the weekly pics-front and side views this week to fully show the roundness! (Sorry the camera shutters weren't open all the way-) Here's to adventures in my third trimester!

Great Falls

This weekend graham was home from skiing (yeah!) so we took the day to explore Great Falls, MD. It is a great walking area that takes you up to the falls. It's about 2.5 miles or so each way next to a canal so it was a nice walk. The only problem was that it looked so warm out we both wore t-shirts, but when the wind was blowing....brrr! we were cold. Everyone we passed was decked out in coats and scarves--But it kept us walking fast! Graham scoped out the big rock areas for future trials biking trips and I just enjoyed the surroundings. We even saw 3 little turtles on a log-I made graham take a picture of one- they were so cute! It was a fun outing. We were pooped afterwards and ordered pizza for a relaxing night. Just thought I'd post some of the pictures from our day.

weekly pics and update

I finally got graham to smile for a picture so that I could put one of him on the blog-yeah! (Note to self: Take pics in the morning when he isn't fully awake and confrontational yet-hehe!) We got great news this week from graham's job--he was offered a full time staff position at National Geographic! He has been working on a temporary staff position and we were thrilled to find out that he got the staff position. Which excitingly includes 2 weeks paternity leave amongst other great benefits. This was a huge relief. Way to go graham!

Here is my 26 week belly! Izzy is really moving around this week and I can feel her more regularly and more distinctly. During work the other day I felt something jab me in the side...hello leg or arm! Everything is going well so far- aside from the little aches and pains- but the time is moving so fast. Everyone asks me about cravings...mine has been grapefruit especially-and any fruit in general! Of course I was born with a sweet tooth so ice cream pretty much always sounds good too- but I don't think that's pregnancy related. =) Graham says I'm definitely "nesting". I worked a little on Izzy's room this weekend-but as the saying goes it is looking worse before (hopefully) it looks better so I'll wait to post some pics until it is more organized and cleaned up.
I'm excited for spring! The trees in our neighborhood are starting to bloom and it's fun to see the first signs of the changing seasons. I can't wait to go see the infamous cherry blossoms-now that we are in DC! That's it for now.
Shell out-(as my dad would say in his penny walk write ups)

built in shelf

last night graham decided to try to put our strawberry milkshake from McDonald's on my belly and ... "ta-da" it stayed! Sweet!--now I don't have to bend over to pick it up from the coffee table! of course we needed to document this momentous occasion (or don't have much of anything else going on). =)

it's becoming real!

We bought some baby furniture from a few really nice families this weekend and after borrowing a friend's bigger car and muscles (pre-preggo shell could've helped lift!) they are ours and in the room! The woman who we bought the crib from said that putting together a crib is said to have the power to ruin a marriage-- well we made it with only a few annoyances- mainly me asking graham a few times, "are those bolts tight enough?" "is that suppose to move like that?" "Could she pull that down?" "Is that safe?" Actually it's amazing we made it through! =0 After a quick check on crib safety online I think we are good to go! We ran out for burgers and fries (yumm-o) and when we came home and went upstairs we both looked in the room and said--well it's now official- we're having a baby! Sorry I couldn't get any pictures of graham smiling- I tried!

my projects

I have two projects I need to start working on and I'm putting them on the blog for motivation! The first is studying for the Marriage and Family Therapy licensing exam that I hopefully will be taking in September/October- and the second is fixing up the second bedroom for guests and baby (and on a budget!). Here are some before pictures for hopefully a dramatic comparison once I'm done. We are going to purchase a bed for guests and the other half will be for the baby- although we have a great bassinet from my sister-in-law that she'll sleep in -in our room for awhile (it's in the picture under all the clothing, toys, and books we have for her so far). I'm excited- it should be fun! As you can see right now the room is full of stuff and junk...ugh. Well --here's to public displays of disorganization and junk--and to the projects!
